Mr Koh Yong Ping is the Chief Executive of Bureau Veritas Marine (Singapore).
Trained as a Marine Engineer at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, he spent 9 years in the Republic of Singapore Navy, dealing with various projects and programs, including surface and subsurface technologies. Subsequently, he took up a post-graduate degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
In his professional capacities, he has contributed to various roles in the industry. Serving as a Council member of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), he chaired the Technical Committee and served as a focal point for industry to feedback on local policies as well as IMO regulations through MPA. During COVID-19, he was the Chair of an international tripartite group (SG-STAR TF) that helped to identify and develop procedures and practices to promote seafarers’ health, crew-change, and vaccination (SEAVAX).
Currently, he serves as a member of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Industry Advisory Council, MINDEF’s Requisition of Compensation Board, Singapore Standards’ M&O Standards Technical Committee, Workplace Safety and Health (MI) Committee and Co-President of the French Chamber of commerce in Singapore Maritime and Offshore Committee.
