Mr Chan Yew Kwong

Yew Kwong is the Senior Consultant in the Workplace Safety & Health Council (WSHC), Singapore since Jul 2019. He retired from the Ministry of Manpower’s Occupational Safety & Health Division (OSHD) in April 2019, after having served in the Ministry for about 35 years in various management roles.

One of the key management roles was the Director of OSH Inspectorate and Deputy Commissioner for WSH where he oversaw the development and execution of enforcement strategies and programmes for regulatory compliance and the effective implementation of WSH standards across all industries.

He is also very involved in the development and promotion of WSH-related Singapore Standards in Singapore. He was a Member of the Singapore Standards Council (SSC) for 6 years, from Apr 2011 to Mar 2017. He was the Chairman of the SSC’s General Engineering and Safety Standards Committee from 1 Apr 2004 to 31 Mar 2017. He is currently the Advisor to the SSC’s Quality & Safety Standard Committee (Apr 2017 – 31 Jul 2023). He was a Member of the Ministry of Defence’s 2nd External Review Panel on SAF Safety (Jul 2017 to Dec 2020) and currently serving on the Maritime Port Authority’s National Maritime Safety at Sea Council (1 Jun 2015 - 31 May 2024).
