Superintendent (1A) of Police Desmond Ong aged 47, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 1994 as a Police Constable (PC) and has been attached to Police Coast Guard (PCG) since then. He has held several appointments in PCG and has been exposed to frontline operations, investigations and staff functions during his tenure with the Force.
He was appointed as an Acting Inspector (AI) in 2007 and was promoted to the rank of a Probationary Inspector (PI) in 2008. He graduated from the Senior Police Officer’s Course in May 2009 and returned to active duties with PCG in Jun 2009.
He undertook his first Command as the Commanding Officer (CO) of PCG’s Special Task Squadron (STS) in Aug 2013, and subsequently as CO of Brani Region on 1 Apr 2022. Brani Region is based at Brani Way and co-located with PCG’s Headquarters. The Region is responsible for the South-Eastern Waters of Singapore covering the seaward and coastal areas from Changi to the Labrador Park, inclusive of the Southern Islands.
